The School of Advanced Fund Development
In today's competitive philanthropic marketplace it is necessary to attract those gifts that drive your mission and sustainably grow your organization. It is no longer sufficient to mimic what others are doing and expect the same results. Each charitable organization must be able to strategically chart their course and execute a realistic plan.
In a recent survey conducted by the Human Resource Council for the Voluntary Sector in Canada, more than 42% of charitable sector employees surveyed across the country identified that their fundraising skills fell short of what their organization required. In today's competitive market place, this is a skill deficit charitable organizations cannot afford.
In a sector where more than 40% of professionals have been in their position 2 years or less, there are simply not enough experienced individuals to satisfy the growing demand. Saddled with a learning curve too steep to navigate alone, many professionals find themselves unable to take their organization to the level of fund development required.
If you have the vision and drive for success, but recognize the need for skills enhancement and coaching to turn your dedication into results, RBR's School of Advanced Fund Development (SAFD) is for you. The first of its kind in Canada, two streams have been developed and a third is under development.
Our approach offers the advantages of senior faculty and coaches with more than 50 years of combined fund development experience across Canada. Small class sizes encourage experiential learning and peer discussion. Our curriculum is based on the latest research and best practices in the arena of Fund Development. The Case studies discussed and samples and templates introduced equip participating organizations and professionals with the tools required to augment their fund development efforts immediately.
The 12 months of coaching following the intensive classroom experience provides students and their organizations with the senior mentorship and counsel required to apply the theory and strategies each student has been exposed to, to advance their organization's development programs beginning the day they return to their office. Through this program, students and participant organizations will, among other things:
- Assess the particular fund development needs of their organization (with respect to each student's particular portfolio)
- Develop systems to enhance the execution of their portfolio and their organization's overall fund development efforts
- Develop and/or improve volunteer and donor relations, prospecting, research, cultivation and solicitation techniques, prospect management, proposal writing, stewardship and development communications
- Improve an organization's fund development planning and program analysis
